The purpose of this article is to provide a model of work personality that incorporates Erikson's theory (1959) of development, Neff's (1986) research in work behavior, and Bandura's (1989) theory of observational learning. After a description of the work personality, the authors apply Hershenson's (1996a, 1996b) model of work adjustment to conceptualize interventions that strengthen work personality to increase work-role behavior.
