title = "Controllable magnetic brake for wind turbines",
abstract = "This paper presents the Controllable Magnetic Brake (CMB) to improve breaking performances of a conventional electrical brake for permanent magnet wind turbines. The proposed CMB can provide the extra torque to fix the blades not to rotate and resolve the disadvantage of exceeding current and power when the wind turbine works at abnormal wind velocities. The experiments show that the braking torque can be controlled and extended to 10 times as compared with a conventional electrical brake.",
