Synthesis and fluorescent properties of aza-crown ether tethered BODIPY fluorophores

Abstract

Five BODIPY analogs modified at the meso-position were synthesized through a Mannich-type reaction. Among these derivatives, aza-12-crown-4 analog 3c was found to show Cu2+-specific behaviour in UV/vis and fluorescent spectra, leading to blue shifts in absorption and effective fluorescent quenching in the presence of Cu2+.
