Superconductivity in KMnO4-treated NaxK z(H2O)yCoO2

Abstract

A series of sodium potassium cobalt oxyhydrates NaxK z(H2O)yCoO2 (x=0.38-0.28 and z=0-0.08) were synthesized using aqueous KMnO4 solution with various molar ratio of KMnO4/Na with respect to the sodium content in the parent compound γ-Na0.7CoO2. Superconductivity was observed at the transition temperature Tc ∼ 4.5 - 4.6 K. in all fully-hydrated samples.
