Abstract
The optical performance of the Ho:CaF2 Q-switched Tm:YAG laser as a function of the initial population in the ground state of the Ho:CaF 2 saturable absorber, pumping rate, and the reflectivity of the output coupler are studied numerically. The results obtained numerically are in good agreement with those obtained experimentally. For a typical laser configuration, a Q-switched laser pulse of 70 mJ in 45 ns is obtained.
