Abstract
The typical transient response criteria (e.g. IAE, ISE, IATE, ISTE) used as an objective function in a genetic algorithm (GA) cannot get a fast transient response without overshoot, although the GA with many attractive features such as effective, robust and easy programming is widely applied to optimize the parameters in a control system. This paper thus proposes a weighted integral absolute error (WIAE) criterion to solve this problem. Experimental results show that the proposed WIAE can really help GA to get a more suitable set of parameters to effectively improve the transient response for servo control systems.
