High directivity light source based on photonic crystal structure

Abstract

The light-emitting diodes(LED) have been widely applied in projector displays and backlight. Especially, 3D display need highly directional and High brightness light source. Some research also proved to limit the light in specific area with the characteristics of photonic crystal band gap so as to enhance the light extraction rate. We designed a photonic crystal structure in LED surface, light distribution angle is about ± 27°. In our design having a high directivity light and light intensity can be enhanced.
