Experimental studies of the dual-band planar inverted-F antenna with a U-shaped slot

Abstract

This paper presents experimental demonstrations of a dual-band planar inverted-F antenna loaded with a U-shaped slot. The physical parameters of the antenna, including shorted-strip widths and ground-plane dimensions, are studied in detail and their effects on the center frequencies and bandwidths of two operating bands are shown. The purpose of this paper is to achieve a compact dual-band antenna for wireless local network applications.
