Enhancement of PLC programming learning based on a virtual laboratory

Abstract

This study develops a novel method using a virtual laboratory for Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming learning. Students use the Multiprog software and the initial program to develop their own applications. Some of the virtual tools that are available to design and integrate the different parts of a mechatronics design are also discussed. Analytical results indicate that experiments supported by Multiprog virtual laboratory user friendly control interfaces generate positive results with respect to knowledge and understanding among the students of the material.
