Abstract

Based on a theoretical approach, the transformer saturation characteristic has certain relation with the rms voltage/current relation curve. A simplified analytical expression is presented for determining the transformer saturation characteristic without field test data. Higher-order approximations are simulated for comparisons with various transformer capacities. For various purposes of the transformer saturation characteristics, the proposed method has the capability to revise the results for different approaches. It is capable of determining accurate transformer saturation characteristics, with the aid of simplified procedures.
