Abstract
This paper presents an efficient satellite tracking approach for the global positioning system (GPS), which consists of two stages of signal processing. First, the satellites are classified into two groups in light of their arithmetic relationships, and then a low-dimension correlator is employed to determine if one or more satellites are located within the visible range of the GPS receiver while a group is selected. Finally, we introduce a full-dimension correlator to assist the synchronization between the satellite and the receiving end.
