Abstract
A new design of a monopolar plate-patch antenna was proposed to enhance the impedance bandwidth. The antenna consisted of a wire monopole top-loaded with a square patch and two ground wires connected between the loading square patch and the antenna's ground plane. An impedance bandwidth of about 8.7% was obtained for the proposed antenna which was three times larger than monopolar wire-patched antenna. The proposed antenna has a wideband and could potentially be used and easily built into terminal cases for practical wireless communication applications.
