A Genetic Algorithm for Multiple Charging Car Scheduling Problem in Wireless Rechargeable Sensor Networks

Abstract

In wireless rechargeable sensor networks, to obtain a feasible charging route, not only should the moving distance of the charging device be minimized to save its energy, but also all the sensors should be charged in time, so that the whole network can work properly. Genetic algorithm is a powerful problem solving tool for this problem; however, related research considered only one charging car to charge sensors. Nevertheless, adopting multiple charging cars scatters the charging tasks and increases the network life time. To efficiently allocate charging tasks to multiple charging cars, in this work, a new genetic approach using multiple charging cars is proposed to solve this complex scheduling problem.
