3D high-brightness autostereoscopic display systems with LED backlight

Abstract

This paper presents a new autostereoscopic display system using light emitting diode (LED) and liquid crystal display (LCD) technologies. The 3D display system with the LED backlight demonstrates high brightness, high resolution, and full color over a wide viewing range without requiring any special glasses. In addition, the switching capability of 2D and 3D images is implemented. The advantages of high image quality as well as low production cost are achieved. The system is suitable for modern 3D applications to consumer electronics.
