電信工程研究所隸屬於本校工學院,於民國九十五年八月奉教育部核定設立,目前每屆招收一般碩士生十二名,未來將逐漸增加至十五名。本所位於本校第二校區(即寶山校區)工學大樓之四、五樓,空間寬敞舒適,四周環境幽雅,林木蒼鬱,鳥語花香,是個極適合讀書與做研究的好地方。本所目前有專任教師五名,分屬電波傳輸組與系統網路組;課程支援師資近十名,都為來至國內外知名大學之電機、電子或電信(通訊)工程博士。實驗室及設備方面,本所現有可支援教學及研究用之實驗室共八間,皆座落於工學大樓,配置有微波與通訊實驗、研究所需之高級儀器設備。 電信工程研究所以電信進階專業知識及應用科技為教學研究重點,以培育產業界迫切需要之高級電信技術研發人才為設所宗旨。著重科技整合,專精知識傳授與應用科技研究並重。同時,為因應國家發展及地方建設需要,將積極辦理技職教師之在職訓練,並提供產業界電信專業人員進修及研究發展機會,期使本所成為中部地區高級電信工業技術之研發、培訓及推廣中心。本所以大學部電子與電機工程系為基礎,其發展方向係依本校現有可支援、及將來擬聘師資、實驗及研究設備、社會需求及政府高等教育政策等來規劃,學生來源包括一般大學與技職校院之畢業生。為有效整合及應用現有師資及研究設備,本所以電波傳輸及系統網路兩組為研究發展重點,包含高速網路與交換技術、寬頻影音與多媒體通訊、前瞻通訊系統設計、通訊系統晶片設計、前瞻積體電路構裝技術、微(毫米)波積體電路、光電積體電路、電波應用研究等。集中人力與設備資源以求達到較佳之研究成果。
