本系於民國九十年成立,現有完整之大學部、碩士 班與 博士班之學位,提供在職碩士學位專班外,於民國九十五年成立顯示技術研究所碩士班。機電系內分為「機電與控制組」及「光電組」等二組研究領域,課程架構部份則區分為:機電學程 25 %、光電學程 25 %、電腦與控制課程 25% 、 兩組共同學程佔 25% 。在教育宗旨部份則 以培養科技人才為主,如精密機械設計與分析、系統結構動態設計、自動控制工程、半導體、光電、微機電系統、生物機電與顯示技術等等。培育學生具機械、控制、微電子與光電系統所需之必要知識與應用,建立系統設計與整合能力,可往機械、控制、光電、微電子與顯示科技產業就業,或往研發單位繼續深造。
