Organisation profile

隨著電子、資訊等科技的突飛猛進,我國的機、電、資訊產業也在全球經濟版圖中佔有重要的地位,預期這些領域仍將繼續於下個20年主導國內之產業發展,其相關人才需求亦將持續殷切。為培育這些產業所急需之高科技人才,本校在此時空背景下於八十八學年度在寶山校區成立電機工程與機械工程兩個研究所,以培育高階之電機、機械研究人才。隨後並於九十學年度承襲工業教育學系下之分組,分設機械工程、電機工程與電子工程三系,每個年級各生招一班。在系所架構逐漸完整、成熟之後,工學院乃於九十一學年度成立,首任院長由成功大學借調至本校服務之林清一 教授擔任。在林院長主持院務之下,戮力於軟硬體建設,除各系所之專業實驗室外,亦設置了電子電路與電腦網路兩間工學院各系所共用之實驗室,並輔導資訊工程學系於九十一學年度成立。而在同年機械工程學系為調整其教學、研究方向,兼顧機與電之整合,申請更名為機電工程學系。至此工學院轄下之系所已涵括機、電、資訊等領域,可說是規模初具,並以優秀的師資及完善的學程與課程規劃,提供學生多元的學習選擇機會。   工學院的設立及發展,擔負著本校轉型為綜合大學成敗之重責大任,也關係著本校能否在傳統師範體制外建立新的發展方向與契機。自成立以來,在各系所主管及師長、同仁們的努力之下,已從最初之四系擴展成為今日之四系三所(分別於九十四學年度增設積體電路設計研究所及九十五學年度增設電信工程與顯示技術兩個研究所,同時電機與機電兩系已設有博士班,而電子與資工兩系則已設有碩士班),涵蓋了機電、電機、電子、資工、IC設計、電信及顯示技術等熱門領域,且無論在教學、研究或推廣教育等方面皆已取得不錯之進展。
